Inquiry by a potential patron on call #023

Inquiry by potential patron (client) on call

On a phone call, people make inquiries in various ways like

1. I want to make a naksha (popular but wrong way)

2. I want to make 3D (wrong)

3. I want to make a map (popular but wrong way)

4. I want to make a drawing (little right way)

5. I want to make a design (the right way) etc. etc. etc

The word Naksha, or Map, is used to map the world, country, region, city, village, etc. Since it has been used in our colloquial language since independence, we use these words anywhere at our convenience. The word used in or for a building is design or drawing.

When someone asks on a phone call, how much money will it take to get a map made? We understand that some less educated people are familiar with the word engineer but not with the word architect.

Today a call came from a person, who was describing himself as a retired government officer and a well-educated person. He introduced himself and then explained the reason for calling. He said that he had just retired sometime back and wanted to have a beautiful house for himself to live in. For that, we need a naksha. We asked’ if you need architectural design with all services (e.g.- structural, map engineering services) or just architectural design and drawings.

He said that I just wanted to get only naksha made and wanted to know the money for making the naksha. We tried to explain to him and asked about the size of the plot, they told us the size of the plot in square yards but they did not tell us the length and width of their plot. When we again asked about the length and width of the plot, he said that you can visit at site and take the measurement yourself. And you can take whatever information you want about the plot or site.

We told him that you would have to pay us an amount as advance or security money for this. Only after that, we can visit at site. And whatever you are talking about naksha making fee, for that our scope of work has to be ensured. After that, we can tell you the estimated fees. His reaction to this was skeptical. He said, ‘So many formalities for a map?

He wanted initial services from us for free but was not sharing project requirements and information with us. The person was repeatedly demanding readymade maps and was saying to send them to us. For this, we suggested they visit our website and register. He was still stuck on the map. He did not want to understand architecture and related services.

We tried to know from him whether he would prefer to take online services or offline traditional? He was not even sharing the project information for designing with us and wanted to get the designs from us over the phone itself. We told him the lump sum amount and service that we would provide. For additional service, you will have to pay extra. We made our point. Our professional charges seemed too high to him, but we offered them to negotiate with the services. On our offer, he said that we would sit with our family and discuss it, then take a decision and contact you, saying that he disconnected the call.

These types of calls come frequently which are just time passes. Some people are not aware of the architecture profession but trust the architect and take architectural services when satisfied. Projects are also completed with them. Other people are opposite to those who are difficult to explain or who do not want to understand.

Talking to such people inspires us to do something new in our profession so that we try to improve our services. The goal is only that whoever comes to us to take our service should get our wonderful unique services. But also keep in mind that whatever the standards of the profession are, there should be no compromise with them.

We have plans for the Scope of Work and Professional Charges here, which were prepared after hard work and research. We have made plans for the scope of work and professional charges available for people of every standard according to their pocket and with all standards. This is possible only in our online services. Anyone can enjoy our services and be part of our layered professional family by choosing the scope of work and professional charges as per their ability.
